I may be over thinking this portrait but to me there is so much symbolism:
-Katniss not sitting in the chair, because she doesn’t abide by the Capitols rules
-She is the only one so far looking directly at us, to show that she isn’t intimidated by the Capitol, but the others were.
-She’s holding the white rose down to show her feelings of superiority over it, with President Snow being the rose.
-Unlike the others, Katniss has a simple and plain chair. It’s because Katniss was a simple girl from The Seam who became the symbol of the rebellion.
Not to break this lovely art-major train of thought, but does anybody else think her dress looks like a fucking FEATHER DUSTER????
Seriously. This dress is ugly as fuck. I’m ashamed of the wardrobe staff for even thinking this is an acceptable substitute for the book’s SILK DRESS with PEARL detailing, which had SLEEVES THAT FELL TO THE GROUND. And those fucking metal wings… WTAF was the stylist who made this THINKING??? I mean, how much further can you get from the book without making the fucking dress bright orange or something? Oh, I know… it’s probably not going to burn black when she spins around, either.
I am so angry about this photo. The wardrobe idiots didn’t care what the book said about most of the costumes anyway (obvious by the choice of a black and white jumper for the arena instead of the book’s blue jumper with a purple belt — like finding blue jumpers is hard!!), but this just takes the cake. If the costumes can be this bad and they’re getting away with it, I’m truly afraid for what the movie might be like.

❝And the arms of the ocean are carrying me,
And all this devotion was rushing over me,
And the crashes are heaven, for a sinner like me,
But the arms of the ocean deliver me.
